The Ultimate Cheese Fondue Experience

This rich and creamy cheese fondue is made with a blend of Gruyère and Emmental cheeses, garlic, white wine, and a hint of nutmeg. It's smooth, savory, and perfect for dipping crusty bread, blanched vegetables, or even bite-sized cooked meats.
Ingredients
200g Gruyère cheese, grated
200g Emmental cheese, grated
1 clove garlic, halved
300ml dry white wine
1 tablespoon lemon juice
2 teaspoons cornstarch
1 tablespoon kirsch (cherry brandy), optional
Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
Freshly grated nutmeg, to taste
Cubed crusty bread, for dipping
Blanched vegetables (e.g., broccoli, carrots, or bell peppers), for dipping
Instructions
Prepare the Pot: Rub the inside of a fondue pot with the halved garlic cloves to infuse flavor.
Heat the Wine: In the fondue pot, combine the white wine and lemon juice. Heat over medium heat until it's hot but not boiling.
Melt the Cheese: Gradually add the grated Gruyère and Emmental cheeses, stirring continuously until melted and smooth.
Thicken the Fondue: In a small bowl, mix the cornstarch with the kirsch (if using). Stir this mixture into the fondue to help thicken it. Continue to stir until the fondue is creamy and velvety.
Season: Add freshly ground black pepper and a pinch of grated nutmeg to taste.
Serve: Keep the fondue warm on a low burner and enjoy by dipping pieces of crusty bread and vegetables into the melted cheese.
